For the past three years, Lev Snowe has spent his days tinkering away in his bedroom studio building up his psychedelic Xanadu. Raised on the warm hiss of 70s soul jazz recordings, the slack chill of the L.A. beat scene, and the nostalgic synth swaying of Boards of Canada, this Canadian songwriter/producer creates an atmosphere that is both washed out and danceable — pensive, yet uplifting. And like a wandering mind spent cooped up indoors all winter, Lev’s music never sits still for too long. Lush electronics bloom around shimmering guitars and the wonky grit of Mobb Deep era hip hop grooves, all while Lev’s wistful lyricism drifts hypnotically in and out of focus—a carefree soundtrack fit for either chaotic house parties or those endless summer nights spent escaping reality.

Surf guitar and whirring synths wash up on a shore of glinting, lost samples. Fuzzy vocals rise from the surf, shake off the sand, and unwrap a summer spread crafted from classic bedroom pop ingredients. Shoegaze and synth pop packaged with a lo fi twist.

TIGER BOMB

Tiger Bomb is a love-child of passion, feminism, self-love and good vibes. This fledgling musical group is comprised of four women: harpist, poet and multi-disciplinary performer Anda Zeng; your friendly neighbourhood percussionist Danielle Sum; singer, guitarist and lyricist Esther Phua; and bassist/vocalist Jessika Godfrey. Tiger Bomb was formed on a shared desire to increase representation of female-identifying artists and people of colour in the local Toronto music scene. Offering an alternative sound, the band's songs acknowledge the mundane magic of living in our bodies, feeling spiritually homeless, and finding belonging in marginalized places and identities.

SEAN BERTRAM

Fresh off of the release of his debut album, “The Right Place”, 20 year old Sean Bertram is a formidable talent: a jaw-dropping young guitar-slinger who is equally comfortable in jazz, pop and rock, a singer with a pure voice and dizzying falsetto, and a songwriter who makes the craft look deceivingly easy. Often compared to John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and Allen Stone, his music weaves stories of love, loss, heartache, and self-discovery through harmonically innovative songs that, if they don’t make you cry, will make you dance.

BON ECHO

From hostel basements to mood-lit café interiors, Bon Echo has been yanking on heartstrings and pushing the limits of what it's possible to do with thrift store toy keyboards since the Summer of 2017. Comprising of Oliver Compton, Charlie Watson, and the songwriting duo of Ian Taylor and Sami Anguaya, the group sings about passion, paranoia, and nostalgia over an instrumental backdrop that draws just as much from Nova Scotian folk-rock as it does from house music and jazz percussion. Following the release of their debut extended play, "Stop, Move," and a productive year that saw them playing a string of shows across Toronto, Bon Echo returned to their hometown of Ottawa to sell out a headlining bill at Black Squirrel Books & Espresso Bar and begin work on their next project. The group’s double A-sided single, "Dancing / Backsliding" was released in December of 2018.

The Sisters Stain Soirée!

As most of you know already we have mere days left in Toronto before we make the move to LA mid January. We figured what better way to bid you all farewell than to lavish you with a show!!

Come join us on Sunday January 6th for a silly, sexy, sassy Soiree. We will be performing 3 burlesque routines as well as sketches from a few of our comedy characters.

There will be musical performances by the amazingly talented Laura Tremblay McGillivray and Alison Smyth and plenty of laughs to be had via the comedy stylings of Megan Fraser and Rachel McLatchie.

We have been contemplating this move for years. Its equal parts exciting and terrifying to purge all of our belongings and pack up just a few suitcases and our cats to start over in a new country, but it feels right. It also feels like the right time to start pursuing more live performance opportunities. This will give us a great chance to celebrate our departure/have a last hurrah with all of our lovely Toronto peeps as well as get your feedback on the work we will hopefully be pursuing in LA. It'll be a "pay-what-you-can" event for anyone who would like to support the "sister's Strain" in the start of their new endeavour!
