With It ft. Jonathan Toubin!

With It presents JONATHAN TOUBIN (Brooklyn, NY)

Host of Jonathan Toubin / New York Night Train - Soul Clap, Sunday Soul Scream, Shaking All Over Under Sideways Down. Rare & raw 50s-60s Rhythm & Soul all on 45rpm records.

Jonathan is pretty much the only DJ we actually like.” (VICE)

"The most-liked man in the soul music scene" (Rolling Stone)

"Particularly chic… one of the most popular spinners in Williamsburg and the founder of the New York Night Train dance parties. His fare is already cleaner and more appreciative of American pop music history than much of the rest." (NY Times)

"This 45 hoarder made soul music fun again with his Soul Clap & Dance Off parties, where five-hour sets of rare grooves and B-sides provided a fleshy alternative to the club scene’s industrial snarl. Instead of bucking the trends of American pop music for some underground alternative, Toubin has made his name by embracing pop’s connective tissue, tracing the rhythm and blues, soul, and rock and roll of the nineteen-fifties and sixties. " (The New Yorker)

Spinning sets – DJs Nico + Jonny Trash (The Twisted Wheel)
Sponsored in part by Kops RecordsBen Sherman CanadaCIUT 89.5 FM

Look the sexiest.....wind your body.....regret nothing

Kristen Violet May
This sultry songstress just finished her debut EP with Rob Kleiner (Sia, David Guetta). The 3x Grammy-nominated producer and KVM crafted a blend of 60's soul, trip hop, jazz, Tarantino & James Bond inspired sounds around Kristen's sultry, powerful vocals. Cinematic, powerful and darkly sweet, her songs are hypnotic and captivating.

Ketch Harbour Wolves
Deeply passionate vocals and melodically charged songs, soulfully produced and epically performed, Ketch Harbour Wolves have created their own brand of baroque folk rock. Wintry depths of sound and darkly emotive lyrics are quickly becoming their calling cards, showcasing an organic and sensitive approach to songwriting which falls somewhere along a line between The National and Kate Bush.

Tom Boy
A smack talking alt pop band from the depths of Toronto's dive bars. Tongue-in-cheek lyrics with synths and reverb to spare. They are releasing their debut single and video "How To Become A Drug Dealer" on Friday October 19, 2018. They are going to get drunk.

KC Roberts!

8PM

So after years of focusing almost all my artistic energy on my funk band KCLR, I decided I really want to open up some different sides of my creativity and give some other facets of my artistry a path outward.

I've been writing a bunch of new stuff, as well as playing around with acoustic versions of KCLR tunes, and I would love the chance to share this music and this night with y'all.

I know it's coming up fast, but I plan on playing two healthy sets (with the first hitting around 8:30). Hopefully between sets and after we can all hang out, have some drinks and catch up. I will also be having some guests out to make the night a bit more exciting and diverse.

The main thing though.... just me and a guitar singing my songs. Hope you can swing by and spread the word.

More info to come!

Much Love and gratitude
KC

Henry Nozuka!

Conor Gains

On his first solo full length album, "Compass" Singer/Songwriter Conor Gains proves himself deeply devoted to making uncompromisingly Soulful music that transcends all Genres. Gains' Label Debut Marks the follow-up to the Self-Released Sophomore album, "Run Away with the Night.", which sparked interest in the young artist's music. In 2016 Gains' album closing song, "Leave it on the Line" won the Cobalt Prize at the Maples Blues Awards. This National prize is designed to highlight innovation and creativity in Songwriting. This is the impression one gets while listening to The Conor Gains Band. The deep respect of Roots, Jazz, and Blues music paired with the Soulful, adventurous exploration of Contemporary Music gives Gains' songs an air of familiarity while listening to something completely unique and transcendental.
